FitRewards Challenge - July 2017 - Broad Jump

Information:

The Standing broad jump is an important method of assessment for evaluating the power and strength involved in explosive leg movement. This test tool is used in the NHL and NFL combines for testing prospective athletes. The broad jump was once an Olympic event until 1912.

 

The main muscle groups producing the standing broad jump are the Gluteus Maximum, Quadriceps, Hamstrings, and Calf muscles

 

Rules:
- The standing broad jump starts with a person in a crouched position with the feet even and behind the start of the line.

- Both legs jump together and the arms swing forward to help initiate forward momentum.

- The jump is measured from the start of the take-off line to the nearest point touched by any part of the body at the end of the jump.

- Three attempts are allowed
