March FitRewards Challenge: Downtown

AirDyne - Half Mile for Time

Information:

  • The Airdyne bike is a new piece of equipment here at Island Health & Fitness that works upper and lower body muscles to maximize cardiovascular benefit.
  • The Airdyne bike is a fan bike that creates resistance from the fan moving air to provide a whole body workout that burns a lot of calories very fast.

Rules:

  • Each participant will use the Schwinn Airdyne bike for the half mile test.
  • A trainer will help the participant with the correct seat height and set the distance goal to .5 miles.
  • Seated on the Airdyne bike the participant will place their feet on the pedals and hands in a comfortable grip position.
  • It is important that the participant maintains a seated position for the duration of the half mile test.
  • The participant can begin the test once in position and the goal distance has been set.
  • The display will show the time once the goal distance has been reached.
