Station #4: Hellish Hill

Sponsored by: Chemung Canal Trust Company

With the majority of the race behind them, the teams only have two more obstacles before crossing the finish line back at Island Health & Fitness. After running past the Cass Park ball fields, the teams stop near the Ithaca Children’s Garden for the fourth station: Hellish Hill.

To get their lungs burning, each competitor must complete 30 burpees. The mud in Mud, Sweat & Cheers comes from the fourth station where teams crawl on their stomach through the muddy ground under a series of string. Finally, the station’s namesake awaits as each team must run 150 yards up a hill with a 20 percent grade and back down.

After all five team members have come down Hellish Hill, it’s on to the fifth and final station.

Chris Bordoni was an active, physically fit Ithaca High School graduate who joined the Marine Corps to fulfill his passion for service to his community and country. Tragically, Corporal Bordoni lost his life from injuries sustained in Afghanistan while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom.

All proceeds from Mud, Sweat & Cheer III go to the Bordoni Trailhead on the Cayuga Lake Waterfront Trail and the Chris Bordoni Scholarship at Ithaca High School.
