Learn Salsa Cubana (Starts 9/29)

 Salsa Suelta Cuban Line Dance for all levels

Salsa Suelta is a “free style” line dance created in Cuba. Here, we teach the timing, steps, and flow of Salsa Suelta, and integrate steps from other Cuban dances – Rumba, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha, Son, Pilon, and Makuta – and use these movements to build fun, low-impact cardio dance sequences that improve your health and prepare you to shine on any dance floor. No dance experience necessary, all levels welcome!

Salsa Partner Dance & Rueda De Casino Beginner Level 1

7:45-8:45 PM

Salsa with Rueda de Casino is a fun way to learn Salsa timing, repertoire, and lead-follow. In Rueda, dancers change partners in a Salsa “wheel,” while performing steps and combinations to the arrangement of a caller. Rueda allows students to dance with various partners in fluid motion, and in a relaxed setting. For new students and those seeking review. Here we teach a set of 20 steps needed to dance Salsa individually, as a single couple, and later, amongst multiple couples in a Rueda de Casino. Level 2 offerings are now available; contact Michael at michael@salsaithaca.com or 607.375.7090 for details on Level 2 for intermediate students.

Attire: Please wear fitted attire suitable for dancing. Footwear should be fitted with medium level traction and flat soles to facilitate movement. Heels, sandals, and open shoes are not suitable. Dance sneakers and worn sneakers work well. Bring a water bottle and hand towel.

Build strength and endurance through low impact movements influenced by Pilates and ballet that leave you feeling the burn.

Weightlifting 101

Starts May 1st 2021

Join Ashley Fennel and Jon Tanguay as they break down the basics behind the squat, deadlift, bench press, and pull-up.  They will cover appropriate warm-ups for each muscle group, proper body mechanics, and accessory exercises for improving strength in each exercise.
This class is a great option for those who have been struggling to increase strength or anyone who is interested in improving their technique and progressing on to Olympic-style weightlifting.

Space is limited to a maximum of 6 participants. You can register online through the Empower Me section of the website, or in-person at the Front Desk downtown.
